K-analys AB analyses unique document!
The 17th century artist Elias Brenner compiled a unique document in which he left samples of 30 different pigments, with descriptions, that was used in his and his colleagues art. Today very few copies of this document exist. One of them is found at the Royal Library in Stockholm. Now K-analys AB together with researcher Cecilia Rönnerstam from the Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts has got the chance to place the pigments under a Raman microscope! The idea is to find out if the discriptions for the pigments are correct, and if not what pigments it is. A first analysis session took place in Uppsala during two days in the beginning of June, under strict safety, and many interesting spectra were collected. Detailed analysis of spectra has now commenced, and the plan is to present the results at an international conference next year.
