The Raman instruments from Renishaw combine a spectrometer
with a microscope. They are equipped with low-powered lasers,
notch filters and CCD cameras, allowing mapping, imaging,
confocal depth-profiling and high-resolution spectra very close
to the laser line. Normally, no sample preparation is required, so
results are both quick and undistorted.
The inVia Raman spectrometer is compatible with FT-IR, AFM, NSOM and
SEM.
The Raman spectrometers are equipped with encoded motors to quickly
change between lasers, gratings, notch filters and to and from confocal
mode, as well as to imaging. These changes are done directly from the
software.
In the microscope podule there are
facilities
for automatic self-validation and internal
calibration using a Ne-lamp. The software is
CFR Part 11 compatible and handles the
request for "electronic signature", specifically
asked for by the pharmaceutical industry.
Features:
Mapping: An automatic xyz-stage makes up a convenient system for mapping. For example you can form
a map that shows the occurrence of a certain compound on the sample surface.
Imaging: A quick way of getting spatial distribution of a species.
Streamline: The latest development Streamline Plus gives Raman
images with full chemical information faster than ever. Samples
of the size of centimetres can be mapped.
Confocal Depth Profiling: Gives the possibility to lower the focal point down in to the sample.
This instrument is
available for measurements and demonstrations in the analysis
lab at K-analys.

Portable raman system
Sometimes it is not possible to bring the samples into the lab
and for these occasions the RX210 portable Raman system has been
developed. It is commonly known as "Raman in a suitcase and with
a weight of less than 15 kg it can be used for field
measurements in forensics, mineralology or when examining art or
historical artefacts in museums.
